Berger Montague served as Co-Lead Counsel and obtained a $1.5 million settlement in this consumer class action in the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. The plaintiffs alleged that Citizens Bank engaged in a scheme to require certain borrowers to (1) purchase flood insurance at an inflated cost, and (2) purchase flood insurance coverage in excess of the amount required by their mortgage contract or federal law. Following extensive litigation, and led by Executive Shareholder Shanon J. Carson, the settlement was obtained and approved by the federal court on behalf of the plaintiffs and a class of borrowers.

If you believe that a provision of your mortgage contract has been breached and caused you harm, or that you are a victim of consumer fraud, please contact Berger Montague.
