Berger Montague Associate Joe Hashmall Speaks at the 2017 Midwest Legal Conference on Privacy and Data Security
Berger Montague Associate Joe Hashmall spoke at the 2017 Midwest Legal Conference on Privacy and Data Security, which took place in Minneapolis, MN, from January 26 – 27, 2017.
Mr. Hashmall’s session was titled “Privacy/Security Litigation Update-What the Big Developments in 2016 Mean in 2017 and Beyond.” The session focused on the state of the law in data breach, fair credit, and other data privacy and security cases. Specifically, Mr. Hashmall provided a plaintiff’s lawyer’s perspective on the changing litigation landscape after the Spokeo decision, as well as an update on TCPA claims and related case law, ransomware litigation, and more.
Mr. Hashmall is a member of Berger Montague’s Consumer Protection practice group. Within that practice group, he primarily focuses on consumer class actions concerning financial and credit reporting practices.
Mr. Hashmall is a graduate of the Grinnell College and the Cornell University School of Law. During law school, Mr. Hashmall served as the Executive Editor of the Cornell Legal Information Institute’s Supreme Court Bulletin and as an Editor for the Cornell International Law Journal. Mr. Hashmall has also worked as law clerk for President Judge Bonnie B. Leadbetter of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court and for the Honorable David J. Ten Eyck of the Minnesota District Court.
