Judge Allows Case to Proceed in MoneyMutual Payday Loans Lawsuit

On August 30, 2017, Judge Donovan Frank of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota denied in large part the defendants' motion to dismiss in the class action lawsuit Rilley et al. v. MoneyMutual, LLC et al. The opinion is available here.

Plaintiffs allege that MoneyMutual arranged high-interest loans with unlicensed, online payday lenders in violation of Minnesota usury and payday lending laws. MoneyMutual advertises on the internet and television using celebrity spokesperson Montel Williams. The case will now head into discovery.
