Biography
Alex B. Heller, Senior Counsel in the Securities Department, concentrates his practice on representing investors in shareholder litigation.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Heller was an attorney with a prominent plaintiffs’ litigation firm where he represented institutional and individual investors in complex class and derivative actions arising from securities fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and other corporate misconduct. Prior to that, Mr. Heller was an attorney at a national plaintiffs’ litigation firm where he chaired the firm’s shareholder derivative litigation practice group, focusing his practice on corporate governance and shareholder rights litigation.
Mr. Heller has successfully litigated a variety of securities class and derivative actions. He played a significant role in many notable cases, including In re Kraft Heinz Securities Litigation, No. 19-cv-01339 (N.D. Ill.) (securities fraud class action that settled for $450 million); Delaware County Employees Retirement System, et al. v. Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation, et al., No. 21-cv-02045 (S.D. Tex.) (securities fraud class action that settled for $40 million, pending final approval); In re Cardinal Health, Inc. Derivative Litigation, No. 19-cv-02491 (S.D. Ohio) (shareholder derivative action that settled for $124 million).
Mr. Heller is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Prior to his legal career, he practiced as a CPA at two large international accounting firms, where he audited and advised public and private companies. Mr. Heller leverages his accounting background when investigating and prosecuting shareholder actions.
Mr. Heller earned his law degree from the George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School and his undergraduate degree from American University. During law school, he served as an associate editor for the George Mason Law Review.
