Berger Montague Joins Over 500 Law Firms Backing Perkins Coie Suit Against Trump Administration

PHILADELPHIA – Berger Montague, a national plaintiffs’ law firm, has joined more than 500 other law firms in filing an amicus brief against President Trump’s Executive Order attacking the law firm Perkins Coie.
“We feel it is our duty, as members of the bar and citizens of the United States, to take steps to uphold the rule of law,” said Berger Montague Chairman Eric Cramer. “This is part of that effort, along with our case against the Government relating to the Department of Education. The brief is in support of Perkins Coie’s efforts to push back against President Trump’s unconstitutional Executive Order that sought to retaliate against Perkins Coie for representing its clients zealously,” said Mr. Cramer.
The motion in support of the Court’s acceptance of the brief, joined by 504 law firms, states: “Amici seek to provide the Court with a broader perspective on the threat that the Executive Order—which is an unconstitutional act of undisguised retaliation for representations that Plaintiff has undertaken in the past—poses to the integrity of our adversarial system, to the ability of clients to obtain the zealous representation to which they are constitutionally entitled, and to the rule of law itself.”
