Paul Bland Receives 2024 Award for Excellence in Ethics in Complex Litigation

Shareholder Paul Bland is among the recipients of the 2024 Award for Excellence in Complex Litigation, which will be presented at the Complex Litigation Ethics Conference in San Francisco, October 17-18. Other award recipients this year include Judge Claudia Wilken of the Northern District of California, Christopher Hockett of Berkeley Law (formerly of Davis Polk), and Professor Nora Freeman Engstrom of Stanford Law.

The conference is organized by the Center for Litigation and Courts at UC Law SF and Huntington Bank, and spearheaded by Joshua Davis, Chair of Berger Montague’s Complex Litigation Ethics Consulting Group

When announcing the award winners, Mr. Davis shared,  “When complex litigation participants act ethically, they improve our society and the functioning of our legal system and democracy. The awards are meant to recognize, publicize, and encourage paragons of ethical behavior.”

Paul Bland is currently co-chair of Berger Montague’s Appeals and Complex Briefing Department. Before joining the Firm, he served as Executive Director of Public Justice for ten years and before that as Senior Attorney for the national legal advocacy nonprofit organization.
