Paul Bland to Give Keynote at the 35th Annual Appellate Practice Institute
Berger Montague Shareholder Paul Bland will be the keynote speaker at the 35th Annual Appellate Practice Institute, organized by the Center for Legal Education and the State Bar of New Mexico’s Appellate Practice Section. The event, which will take place September 20, 2024 in Albuquerque, New Mexico as well as virtually, features a full-day of sessions on appellate law in New Mexico. Among the list of speakers are judges from the New Mexico Court of Appeals as well as clerks from the New Mexico Supreme Court.
Paul Bland’s keynote is titled “The Forum Matters: Advocacy in Different Appellate Courts and the U.S. Supreme Court.” Paul brings to his session a wealth of expertise in appellate law, having won multiple victories in the U.S. Courts of Appeal, ten different state supreme courts, and one victory in the U.S. Supreme Court.
Paul is Co-Chair of Berger Montague’s new Appeals and Complex Briefing Department. Before joining Berger Montague, he served as Executive Director at Public Justice, a national legal advocacy nonprofit organization, and before that, served as Senior Attorney for the organization, overseeing its appellate and other litigation work.
