Berger Montague Lawyers to Present Online Seminar on Mandatory Arbitration Agreements in Light of Piccolo v. Disney
Shareholder Paul Bland and Associates Julie Pollock and Matthew Summers will lead a seminar titled “Demystifying Disney’s Legal Shield: Mandatory Arbitration Agreements” on October 9 from 1-2 PM EST. The online seminar, which will also be available for purchase after the event, is hosted by the National Business Institute. CLE credits are available for lawyers.
The seminar will examine the recent case (Piccolo v. Disney) involving Jeffrey Piccolo who attempted to file a wrongful death lawsuit against Disney after his wife tragically died at a Disney park. His case was thwarted when it emerged he had subscribed to Disney+ years prior, and had therefore signed an arbitration clause as a condition of using the streaming service.
Specifically, the seminar will focus on the following: when arbitration agreements are not enforceable, unconscionability in arbitration clauses, and the wider effect mass arbitration is having on the legal landscape.
