Biography
Albert is the CEO of Berger Montague (Canada) PC, which operates an office in Toronto, Canada. BMPC brings securities class actions in Canada on behalf of harmed investors, often in parallel to proceedings underway in the United States. As a former prosecutor for the Ontario Securities Commission of insider trading and market manipulation offences, protecting Canada’s capital markets has long been a focus of Albert’s legal practice.
Albert’s representative cases in the class action space include obtaining leave to proceed with securities class action claims in many matters, as is required by the various provincial Securities Acts in Canada, certifying those matters pursuant to the applicable Class Proceedings Act, endless motions, and of course, getting the settlement of those matters approved by the applicable Canadian court.
Since 2018, Albert has recovered over $100 million dollars for investors in Canada. The firms Albert has managed have been ranked every year in the Top 50 of the Institutional Shareholder Services Securities Class Action Services (“ISS SCAS”) annual ranking of plaintiff class action firms in North America based on recoveries for shareholders.
