Berger Montague Antitrust Lawyers Honored by the American Antitrust Institute (AAI) Awards 

Berger Montague is proud to announce that its lawyers received three awards at the 2024 American Antitrust Institute (AAI) Awards. The Firm and nine of its current and former antitrust lawyers were recognized for their achievements in the following antitrust cases:  Henry, et al. v. Brown University, et al.; Fusion Elite All Stars, et al. v. Varsity Brands, LLC, et al.; and In Re Suboxone Antitrust Litigation. The awards were presented at the AAI Awards Night in Washington, D.C. on October 30, 2024.

Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement By A Young Lawyer

Henry, et al. v. Brown University, et al.: Hope Brinn

This case, which has resulted in $284 million in settlements to date, alleges that 17 elite universities colluded to artificially reduce financial aid and increase the net tuition prices paid by over 200,000 students. Hope Brinn, an Associate at Berger Montague, is a core member of the litigation team.

Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement In Private Law Practice

Fusion Elite All Stars, et al. v. Varsity Brands, LLC, et al.: Eric Cramer, Joshua Davis, Michael Kane, and Mark Suter (now at the FTC)

Berger Montague served as  Co-Lead Class Counsel in this antitrust case, which resulted in a $43.5 million settlement against Varsity Brands. The Firm represented a class of All-Star Cheer Gyms and Spectators of All Star Cheer Events who alleged that Varsity Brands monopolized the market for All Star Cheer Events in the United States.

In Re Suboxone Antitrust Litigation: David Sorensen, Caitlin Coslett, Ellen Noteware, and Richard Schwartz

A $385 million settlement was reached in this case which alleged that Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceuticals, Inc. engaged in a scheme to coerce the market to switch from Suboxone tablets to Suboxone film and delay less-expensive versions of Suboxone tablets to enter the market.
