Dr. Litan Argues that Debate is Key to Restoring Civility in our Politics and Improving Critical Thinking
In Dr. Litan’s book and in the upcoming documentary, he explains how debate improves critical thinking among students and prepares them for a rapidly-changing world. Debate also helps foster important skills like listening, persuasion, and the ability to use fact-based research to construct and deconstruct compelling arguments—all of which, Dr. Litan argues, are severely lacking in modern society and politics.
When Dr. Litan isn’t trying to save our democracy, he is leading some of the Firm’s most consequential antitrust litigation, including most recently against elite private universities for allegedly fixing financial aid and against the Ivy League universities for prohibiting athletic scholarships.
