Biography
Julia McGrath is an Shareholder in the firm’s Antitrust practice group, representing consumers, businesses, and public entities in high-stakes plaintiffs’ class actions. She prosecutes complex cases involving price-fixing, bid-rigging, illegal monopolization, and other anticompetitive conduct across a wide range of industries — from pharmaceuticals and healthcare to food processing, finance, and manufacturing. Over the last 5 years, Ms. McGrath has helped recover more than $700 million for her clients and the classes she has represented.
Ms. McGrath has played a key role in landmark antitrust matters, securing hundreds of millions of dollars in recoveries for her clients, including $398 million for poultry processing workers in Jien v. Perdue Farms (D. Md.); $200+ million for red meat packing workers in Brown v. JBS USA Food Company (D. Colo.) (ongoing); $93 million for purchasers of brand and generic Lipitor in In re Lipitor Antitrust Litigation (D.N.J.) (ongoing); and $51 million for purchasers of brand and generic Seroquel XR in In re Seroquel XR Antitrust Litigation (D. Del.).
She has litigated cases through trial, serving on the trial teams in In re Opaa ER Antitrust Litigation (N.D. Ill.) and In re Seroquel XR Antitrust Litigation (D. Del.). Julia also brings extensive expertise in e-discovery strategy, including negotiating ESI and TAR protocols, managing large-scale document reviews, leveraging AI-driven tools to streamline litigation, and working with economic experts to develop models of antitrust impact and damages.
In addition to her class action work, Julia is deeply committed to public service. As Co-Chair of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, she represents the government of Mexico in Estados Unidos Mexicanos v. Diamondback Shooting Sports Inc. (D. Ariz.), a case against Arizona gun dealers alleged to facilitate the trafficking of military-style weapons to drug cartels. She also serves on the Executive Board for Justice Rising Advocates for Community Legal Services of Philadelphia.
Her accomplishments have earned her recognition as a Premier Class Action’s Lawyers of Tomorrow award (2025), Super Lawyers Rising Star (2025) and a Lawyer on the Fast Track by The Legal Intelligencer (2024).
Before practicing law, Julia built a successful career in government and politics, advising congressional, gubernatorial, and U.S. Senate campaigns in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She served as Finance Director for U.S. Senator Bob Casey and was appointed by President Obama as Special Assistant to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration.
Julia earned her J.D., cum laude, from Temple University Beasley School of Law and her B.A. in History from Boston University.
