Austin Powder Red Diamond maintains a chemical plant in McArthur, Ohio (Vinton County). The plant spilled thousands of gallons of nitrogen oxide. The spill emanated from a tank that holds 5,000 gallons. Local residents were subject to an immediate evacuation order. The spill resulted in an aerosolized cloud that spans over 3,700 miles and grounded commercial air traffic.
