Berger Montague Welcomes Tyler Planeta as Senior Counsel in Toronto Office

TORONTO, CA –Berger Montague, a leading plaintiff law firm, today announced that Tyler Planeta has joined the firm as Senior Counsel in its Toronto office.

Mr. Planeta’s practice centers on complex class action litigation, with a particular focus on securities and competition matters. He has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario and British Columbia, as well as before the Supreme Court of Canada. Since 2025, he has been recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Canada in the field of Class Action Litigation.

Mr. Planeta’s work representing investors in securities class actions has resulted in settlements exceeding $130 million. Beyond securities litigation, he has built a broad and varied practice extending to human rights, institutional abuse, and product liability litigation. He also represented Canadian consumer groups in two landmark Supreme Court of Canada decisions.

Before joining Berger Montague, Mr. Planeta was a partner in a prominent class actions practice. He also worked for a litigation funding firm in Dublin, Ireland, where he helped manage complex securities and competition claims in Europe and Asia.

Mr. Planeta is a graduate of the Queen’s University Faculty of Law and the University of Waterloo, and a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Law Society of British Columbia, and the Advocates’ Society.
