Plaintiffs represented by Berger Montague and Co-Counsel File For Preliminary Approval of $375 Million Settlement in the Le v. Zuffa UFC Case

Class counsel and each of the fearless class representatives in this long-running case are extremely proud of the $375 million settlement we achieved after ten years of hard-fought litigation on behalf of the class of 1,100 former UFC fighters we represent in the Le v. Zuffa matter.

The settlement amount equates to nearly 70% of the total compensation the UFC paid to its entire roster of fighters during the nearly six and one-half year class period. This is an incredible result by any historical measure. If approved by the Court, thirty-five ex-UFC fighters would net over $1 million each; nearly 100 fighters would net over $500,000 each; more than 200 fighters would recover over $250,000 each; over 500 fighters would recover over $100,000 each; and nearly 800 fighters would recover over $50,000 each.

Over fifty fighters, comprising more than 300 UFC bouts, submitted declarations supporting the settlement. These declarations highlight the groundswell of support for the settlement and the urgency of the need for the proceeds to reach the members of the class. These declarations reveal how the settlement, if approved by the Court, would materially improve the lives of the class members.

Further, the settlement does not resolve a separate case, Johnson v. Zuffa, et al., in which we will seek still more damages for current and former UFC fighters, as well as attempt to obtain injunctive relief seeking to end the anticompetitive practices in which we allege the UFC and its owner continue to engage. We look forward to a hearing in which we can present the settlement to the court, and also to continuing to litigate the Johnson case to a successful conclusion.
